Canal Cities

The Suez Canal is an artificial waterway at sea level in Egypt that connects the Mediterranean Sea with the Red Sea. Opened in November 1869 after 10 years of construction, it allowed ships to travel between Europe and East Asia without sailing around Africa. The northern end is Port Said; The southern end is Port Tawfiq at the city of Suez. Ismailia is located on the western bank of the canal, 3 km from the middle of the road. When built, the canal was 164 km long and 8 meters deep. After many expansions, its length reached 193.30 km, its depth reached 24 meters, and its width reached 205 meters. It consists of the northern entrance port with a length of 22 km, the canal itself with a length of 9 km and the southern entry port with a length of 9 km.
